NFL Week 6 Locks

Another Straight Up Now Tell Me situation last week, as Paula Abdul would say. When I hit, I hit straight on, but when I miss, I’m in a different time zone.

Coming off a week where I went 2-3, The two wins happening exactly like I said they would and the three losses happening the exact opposite,…It’s fitting that I stand at 9-9 for the year.

I’m either on the sidelines and in the huddle, or I’m on another planet.

Let’s keep it rolling. This Sunday there are a few games that I like. Let start with the Chiefs-Bills game. This is not an overreaction to the Tuesday night game. The Bills are an 11-5 type team this year, no doubt in my mind. But the Chiefs are coming off a loss and you better believe they’ll be motivated to get back on track in a big way. Combine that with the fact that the Bills defense is extremely banged up and Josh Norman isn’t any good, I look for the Chiefs to run away here. The line is Chiefs -5.0. I’ll gladly take it. The over/under in this game is 57.5. Vegas put it so high they want you to be afraid of it. Don’t be. This is Patrick Mahomes revenge week. The Chiefs might get there on their own. Take the Chiefs and the over this week.

I’ll take the Patriots (-9.5) against the Broncos, if they ever actually play this game. The Broncos didn’t have a QB to begin with and now they’re already into their second/third option. Belichick feeds off this, and he’s never minded running it up. I look for this game to get ugly and New England to win by 2 or 3 touchdowns.

The Bears are the worst 4-1 team in the history of football. They play the Panthers this week. My man Teddy and his Carolina team will win, and that’s all they’ll need to do against this spread (Carolina -1). This is one of those games that won’t have many highlights, but at the end of the day it’ll say Panthers 19 Bears 16 on the bottom scroll.

Also I will reach out a little bit further and take the Texans this week. They have a new coach, which seems to have given this very underachieving, talented team an excuse to start playing better. The Titans are coming off a rare Tuesday night game where they somehow got a blowout victory, and are undefeated on the year. Limited rest and over confidence going up against a reborn, talented hungry unit fighting to stay relevant…The line is Titans -3.5…I’ll take the Texans and don’t be surprised if they win outright Sunday.

The Bucs play the Packers as well. The Packers are favored by 1 point. Here’s how I look at this…both QB’s are tied for most annoying quarterback in football, and are always in the look but don’t touch category when you’re a defensive lineman. It’s shoot out time. I like the Packers to lose, because they gotta lose sometime. And I like the total to go way over 55 points. Take the Bucs and the Over.

And now to my bread and butter…My Vikings pick for the week (1-5 so far on the year). I think this will be a close game. The Falcons have had some huge leads that they’ve blown this year. They still don’t have a win and they fired their coach. I think this week is perfectly aligned for them to break out and do some damage on offense. They’re playing against a young secondary with a veteran qb and a bunch of veteran guys. I don’t get why the Falcons are so bad. Straight Up (Paula Abdul coming full circle in this post) looking at their record is the only reason I won’t pick the Falcons to win outright. But since they are 4 point underdogs, I’ll just take the Falcons and the points this week. But, again, hoping the Vikings prove me wrong.
