Conference Championship Week

The closet I’ve ever been as a fan to watching my team play in the super bowl is getting to this game.

The Vikings did so in ’87, ’98, 2000, 2009, and 2017.

They’re 0 for 5.

It’s an exciting game day. I woke up on January mornings in 2000 and 2009 thinking my team was going to the super bowl.

I had looming thoughts of gloom and doom waking up in ’98 and 2017.

I don’t remember much about the game in ’87, I just remember going over to my dad’s friends house and watching the game with all his buddies. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.

That game was the first I remember being a part of, and probably the reason I started being a Minnesota Vikings fan in the first place.

They set me up for a life of this bullshit.

Thanks assholes.

Not surprisingly, the Packers have almost doubled up that appearance total in my lifetime.

Partly because they are a well run, stable organization. Partly because they get EVERY SINGLE CALL, EVERY SINGLE GAME.

They’re 3-5 in eight appearances. This Sunday will be their ninth.

I hate them.

So much so they’ve got me rooting for a team quarterbacked by Tom Brady this week. I didn’t think there’d ever be a day.

So here’s to you Tampa. Good Luck.

Give me the Bucs +3.5

Unfortunately I think this is the end of the line for the Bills.

This year.

There’s no reason they shouldn’t be in this game off-and-on for many years to come.

But this week I think experience and championship pedigree meets not-quite-ready-yet, and the Chiefs win by 10.

Give me the Chiefs -3.

If you know anything about my picks during the year rush out to your favorite local sportsbook and put a C-note on a Bills-Packers Super Bowl.

Enjoy your Conference Championship Sunday.

Can’t believe you nailed it. That’s a first. How do we know you didn’t write this after the games were over?
